Nancy Miles

The agency was founded by Nancy Miles in 2003. Nancy's involvement in children's books began in publishing, with stints at Heinemann Young Books, A&C Black, HarperCollins and Hodder Children's Books where she was Rights Director for seven years.

Nancy says "Many years of negotiating and selling rights in the international market place was a brilliant grounding for setting up my own agency. Children's books is such an exciting arena in which to be working and they have a massively important job to do. When I see the variety and quality of children's books published today, I feel envious of young readers! My favourite kind of book? I like funny books and I like books with emotional depth. A book that can make me laugh and cry would be perfect! I want to be engaged by a compelling voice, pulled into an exciting plot and transported to another world."

"Nancy is the kind of agent that writers dream about; supportive creatively, on the ball professionally, and truly fun to work with. I literally could not ask for anything more." - Zoë Marriott

"Do I really want to recommend the wonderful Nancy Miles at Miles Stott? I'm inclined to want to keep her to myself - if other authors get a whiff of how fabulous she is, then they will all want her. I changed agents to join Nancy in 2008, and she has been a steady hand on the tiller of my career ever since. Well-respected and trusted, with great contacts and strong industry relationships, Nancy has a depth of knowledge built up over years in the publishing business. She's thorough, thoughtful and utterly focused on doing the very best for her clients. She's also creatively intuitive and her feedback is invaluable." - Stacy Gregg
